A baby boy in Nigeria has received multiple alerts from Facebook fans after his unique name (Ikpa-Ekpe which literary means “lion skin” in the indigenous Annang and Ibibio dialects used in Akwa Ibom state) stirred up controversy on the social media platform.
Ikpa-Ekpe who lives in the city of Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, is the son of a local businessman and author, Colin Oscar who is the CEO of Made in Akwa Ibom.
According to his father, the multiple transfers were sent to the baby via his account on Friday.
This happened after his father shared copies of his Account transactions and Birth Certificate on his Page to convince doubting Thomases that the baby’s name was truly Ikpa-Ekpe.
“Stop asking me if Ikpa-Ekpe is my son’s real name. Stop telling me that he’s too handsome to bear Ikpa-Ekpe. What should be a handsome boy’s name? Do you think it’s by name? ” Colins wrote.
On Friday precisely by 8:22 am (+1 GMT), Mr. Collin shared another post in which he showed snapshots of cash transfers some fans made to his son’s account thanking them for the money although he had not made any request for it.
“Ikpa-Ekpe woke up this morning to see multiple alerts on his account from his fans even when he didn’t request for it. Thank you to all Ikpa-Ekpe’s fans and love ones. Let’s keep doing it. He needs 100k before his 5th month birthday so he can host his fans in a big way. Keystone 6035800914 Ikpa-Ekpe Collins Oscar”, he said.
